About the company

RedJay Asset Management Inc. is an OSC-registered, Toronto-based investment manager investing through public equity security portfolios and external portfolios. We are looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager to manage the existing external hedge fund manager mandate.

What your day-to-day be like:

  • Research and identify new and increased investment opportunities, based on the mandate requirements with respect to risk-award analysis, specific risk appetite, correlation with existing portfolio etc.
  • Performs detailed due diligence in evaluating investment opportunities, including track record reconciliation, in-depth validation of the investment process of target managers, and returns analysis.
  • Actively participates in the investment decision-making process, including presenting proposals at Investment Committee Meetings.
  • Assists with the on-going management and monitoring of the external hedge fund portfolio investments.
  • Identifies and monitors new trend and/ or changes relevant to the existing investment positions.
  • Conducts operational due diligence of selected managers.

What you need to succeed in this role:

  • Business degree or related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An MBA or similar degrees are definite assets.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio management theory, and solid experience related to different type of investment strategies.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or equivalent investment related certificates are definite assets.
  • Between 4-6 years of relevant experience and, preferably, on an investment manager selection role within a buy-side, institutional investment team, or other similar professional environments.
  • Proven record in identifying investment managers that could consistently deliver expected and/ or required risk-adjusted returns through a long run.
  • Self-starter, team-oriented, detail-oriented, and proven ability to perform in high-expectation environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required. • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
